Boston Chapter of NCTN

The Boston Chapter of the National College Transition Network (NCTN) offered monthly learning and networking activities supplemented with customized technical assistance to help members build upon existing program elements to strengthen their transition services for adult students. Funding from the Carl and Ruth Shapiro Foundation underwrote the institutional membership fees for these participating Boston-area adult education centers from 2009 to 2011:

  • Community Learning Center, Cambridge
  • Crittenton Women’s Union, Boston
  • College Bound Dorchester, Dorchester
  • GED Plus at ESAC, Roxbury
  • International Institute of Boston, Boston
  • Jewish Vocational Services, Boston
  • Project Hope, Roxbury
  • SCALE: Somerville Center for Adult Learning, Somerville
  • X-CEL Adult Education Services, Inc., Jamaica Plain

The facilitated community learning dialogues among members created a strong foundation for collaboration among members beyond 2011. NCTN's current College for a Day and Aspirations Toolkit projects and aspects of the Boston Opportunity Agenda reflect the chapter's accomplishments.
