Guided Pathways to Success in STEM

The NCTN provides technical assistance to the Guided Pathways to Success in STEM (GPSTEM) initiative led by Massasoit Community College. GPSTEM is a consortium of Massachusetts’ 15 community colleges committed to advancing a comprehensive approach to the training and educational needs of workers and employers with a focus on articulated pathways to careers in high-growth STEM sectors: Health Sciences, Engineering/Manufacturing, Life Sciences, and Computer and Information Science/IT.  It is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor as a final round of funding from the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant (TAACCCT).

The NCTN staff facilitates the curriculum review and redesign processes for two state-wide GPSTEM Academic Program Teams (APT): Health Sciences and Computer Information Systems/IT. For these areas, the NCTN staff guides the development of Career Pathways that encompasses the proposed GPSTEM certificates and degrees with related job titles, salary information, certifications, entry and exit points, and core competencies. With the NCTN’s support, the APTs will review/validate the Career Pathway with employers and industry representatives to ensure that the proposed Career Pathway(s) reflects local labor market information.
